Lakewood Church, Houston, June 5

A series of courageous, non-violent actions disrupted “business as usual” in churches, sports arenas, and other venues across the country, and brought the message “Overturn Roe? HELL NO”! to millions of people in the U.S. and around the world. These actions were a call for many, many others to step up and act—to put “your bodies upon the gears” of the system to STOP the outrage of making abortion illegal.  Sunsara Taylor said on The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show, that these actions are “a beginning taste of the kind of disruptive, non-violent acts of courageous, defiance, protest that need to go on, across this country—thousands of people taking bold actions like this, waking up and rousing millions into struggle, very quickly.”

In bold, creative, furious and joyful ways, in cities across the country, people marched, disrupted, disturbed the air, and “greened up” everywhere they went –  with bandanas, stickers, banners, and posters. In Los Angeles a huge green banner dropped during a Dodgers baseball game.

Guido Reichstadter, Chained in front of Supreme Court, for Abortion Rights

“There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can’t take part; you can’t even tacitly take part. And you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon all the apparatus and you’ve got to make it stop. And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all.”

“Youth procession with @riseup4abortion to Amy Coney Barrett’s home. What’s the big deal about forcing women and girls to have children against their will when they can just drop the baby off, she asked. No! Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights NOW!”

“In front of the #SCOTUS We are COMING to DC to STAY! We will NOT allow the Supreme Court to overturn Roe.”
